Installer for the OSMC media player for Raspberry Pi computers
OSMC (Open Source Media Center) is a free and open source media player based on Linux. Founded in 2014, OSMC lets you play back media from your local network, attached storage and the Internet. OSMC is the leading media center in terms of feature set and community and is based on the Kodi project.
With OSMC (previously known as Raspbmc) you can transform the Raspberry Pi mini computer or an Apple TV into a fully-fledged media center for free.
Despite its weak hardware, the small computer Raspberry Pi is able to display Full HD videos with up to 30 frames per second without jerking. This predestines the circuit board, which costs only 35 dollars, above all for use in home cinema. With OSMC (Raspbmc) you get a version of the Xbox Media Center (XMBC) converted into an operating system.
Installation is very easy: After starting the downloaded file, you only have to specify the drive letter of the SD card on which OSMC is to be installed. With a click on "Install" the image is automatically downloaded and written to the card. Once the process is complete, you can plug the memory card into the Raspberry Pi and boot from it.
